The Hedged Gardens

About

Where it is: There are four Hedged Gardens that are located on the northwest side of the park.

On entering the park via the North Entrance and turning right you encounter the first two of our hedged gardens, The Floral Hedged garden and The Native Hedged garden.

To the right of these, near the railing marking the North border of the park you will find our Flower Hedged garden. The final is The Crab Apple Hedged garden, found in the same area of the others but closest to The Pond. This the most easily identifiable with its centre piece Crab Apple Tree.

What Plant/Tree life to look out for:  The Hedged gardens are all enclosed areas surrounded by planted hedges each with different contents.

The Floral Hedged garden is planted with a variety of flowering plants.

The Crab Apple Hedged garden is an ornamental garden with manicured flower beds and a crab apple tree as the centrepiece.

The Flower Hedged garden contains several raised beds planted with a variety of seasonal flowers. The Hillside Clubhouse tends this garden, and the flowers are used for their floral displays used for their fund raising efforts to help people in need.

Please leave the flowers for those that have worked hard to grow them or join the group who help tend them.

What Insect/Bird/Animal life to look out for: The Hedged gardens attract a wide variety of wild visitors, but our most popular guest are pollinators like bees and butterflies. Then there are the birds like sparrows, robins and blackbirds who love the shelter and food to be found in the hedges.
